In our small workshop in Vietnam, the belt starts long before the first cut. The artisan unrolls the hide, finds the belly, and traces one straight band through its calmest stretch, where the large square scales sit at the center and taper gently toward both edges. We have been doing this by hand since 2015, and this cut is still the one we save for pieces meant to last a lifetime.
